Roots and Resilience Family Home Foundation’s Rural Housing & Family Stability Initiative works to address housing instability and the unique barriers rural families face when trying to obtain or maintain safe, stable, and affordable housing.
Housing is more than a place to live. Stable housing affects family safety, employment, education, health, financial security, and a family’s ability to remain connected to its community and support system.
The initiative may provide or coordinate support such as:
- Housing resource navigation and referrals
- Assistance identifying affordable housing opportunities
- Homeownership readiness and financial education
- Connections to housing assistance and community programs
- Support for families experiencing housing instability or at risk of displacement
- Assistance identifying barriers related to utilities, transportation, employment, and household stability
- Partnerships that support rural housing development and rehabilitation
- Community education about housing resources and opportunities
- Support connecting families with programs that can help repair, improve, or maintain safe housing
- Development of future housing solutions that respond to the needs of rural families
Our long-term vision is to help create sustainable housing opportunities that allow families to remain rooted in the communities they call home.
By addressing housing alongside employment, family support, resource access, and other factors that influence stability, Roots and Resilience seeks to reduce crisis, strengthen families, and build healthier rural communities for future generations.
