Families sometimes face situations where safety concerns arise, not from a lack of care, but from temporary challenges or limited support. Through experience in child welfare services, it has become clear that many children could remain safely at home if a consistent, responsible adult were present during critical times for temporary adult supervision. This program was created to help bridge that gap, providing family safety support while reducing unnecessary separation.
Families: Maintain stability while receiving structured family safety support.
Children: Remain safely in their home environment with the help of child welfare services.
Courts & Child Welfare Systems: Gain an additional safety option, including temporary adult supervision, to support decision-making. Communities: Strengthen family systems and prevent disruption.
Services are available based on the specific needs of each situation, including times when temporary adult supervision is most critical to maintaining family safety support in the home. Referrals for child welfare services can be made by courts, child welfare professionals, community organizations, or families seeking support.
Services are available based on the specific needs of each situation, including times when temporary adult supervision is most critical to maintaining safety in the home. This is especially important in the context of child welfare services and family safety support.
A Responsible Adult is present for one purpose:
➡ To monitor safety in the home when protective capacities have been identified as diminished, particularly in the context of child welfare services.
This includes:
Being physically present in the home
Observing for safety concerns
Taking action if an unsafe situation occurs
This does not include:
Childcare
Housework
Transportation
Social or emotional support
Responsible Adults operate within clearly defined safety expectations and are required to take appropriate action if safety concerns arise, ensuring family safety support through temporary adult supervision.
